Mr I's Conversion... The Roof

Mr I came to us looking for the full bells and whistles to go into his T6 Edition. This was to include carpet line-out, insulation, new floor, wardrobe units, electrics, heater, fridge, swivel seat, pop top roof, and much more… As mentioned.. Full Bells and whistles!

In this piece we will show and explain the roof fitting process.

A roof can add so much to your van, not only for the camping experience, but to value, should you decide to move the van on. With the room ‘upstairs’ for extra bodies to sleep, be it the kids or friends, the world of family camping trips, or weekends away with friends opens up. Along with sleeping arrangements, just hanging out in the van is a more pleasurable experience, when you don’t spend your entire time stooped over!

The process is started with the roof being cut out of your van, our technicians have fitted 100’s of roofs, so are very experienced at this, so fear not, your van is in safe hands! After cutting, a primer is painted on to ensure all bonding agents can do their job.

The roof is then bonded and bolted to the van, along with a front spoiler, which really finishes off the job and ensures a nice, aerodynamic look to the vehicle.

Mr I went for a Reimo roof. Because he has an ‘Edition’ T6, this van is grey with some smart looking black details. Mr I requested that the roof be painted black to match the colour layout of the van. This is something that we offer with all our roofs, colour coding to your exact needs, wether it’s a contrasting colour to stand out, or a colour that makes the roof look subtle, we can sort it.

This Reimo pop roof has zip windows integrated, with fly screens also. The roof is front elevating (providing more room above the important areas - cooking, entry, exit etc.), but also elevates at the rear.

Here at SJ Campers, we work with Reimo, SCA and Skyline roofs, this ensures that customers have the choice of a range of price points, and features. Please browse the roofs section of our website to review what we have on offer.

T6 Long Wheelbase Camper Conversion.

One for the showroom floor, although we’re sure it won’t stick around for long. This stunning Green T6 was destined for something different to our usual spec campers.

Having the long wheel base allows for plenty of space even when packed with features and utilities. Finished to our exacting standards, with all the units custom crafted to our specifications we have squeezed in everything you need for a truly functional camper. Leisure battery provides power throughout, with touch switch lights in the ceiling, charging points and a fridge. We have installed a double hob and sink with running water in the fresh orange work top, as well as a grill unit, who ever said camper food was dull. All finished off with a rock and roll bed, Reimo pop top for even more space once you’ve reached that perfect destination and a Webasto diesel heater for adjustable comfort, all year round.
